Founded in 1997, San Diego Hua Xia Chinese School (SDHXCS) is a nonprofit, secular, and apolitical educational organization with 501(c)(3) status.  The school is the first local Chinese language school that teaches simplified Chinese and Pinyin (Chinese phonetic). 

          Our mission is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for students to acquire skills of comprehension, communication, reading and writing in Mandarin Chinese,to instill an awareness of the Chinese heritage, creating programs to introduce Chinese culture to the community, and to promote mutual understanding between different ethnic groups. 

          Our school grow rapidly since very beginning. With enrollment over 1,100 each school year, SDHXCS has become the largest Chinese language educational organization in San Diego.  Five programs (Bilingual, Regular, Credit, AP Chinese, and Enrichment) offer 60 Chinese classes and over 30 enrichment classes to meet the needs of our students with different levels of proficiency and interests.

          In 2003, SDHXCS's Credit Program (Level I through Level IV) was born. The program is widely accredited by local school districts. In 2006, AP Chinese course was added. The course is approved by and registered with College Board. The programs are fully accredited by ASC WACS (Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Colleges and Schools).

Weekly Reminder 2015-04-19
 
Dear  Hua Xia Families,

We are fast approaching to the end of this school year. Here are news for week 27. 
 
1) Registration for 2015-2016 begins this Sunday 4/19, online.  Must have your student's ID number to register all programs including Enrichment.  Each student also must have a unique email address, meaning, no 2 students' email address on the registration form be the same. The existing Hua Xia students enjoy the priority of enrollment if application received on /before the deadline, 5/3 for Regular class, 5/10 for Credit class. After that, new student policy applies.

2) Credit Program placement test for 2015-2016 incoming students is scheduled on this Sunday, 4/19, 12 noon - 1 pm, I-101A.  (for existing Hua Xia students only. New students on 5/3).  
     
     Please:         - arrive at 11:35 am. 
                         - know your Chinese teacher's name and class ID.
                         - have your parent's phone number and email address handy . 
                         - know your school name / district in 2015-2016 year (to fill in the test sheet) .
 
This test is for students who will be in 7th grade or higher (in their regular school) in 2015-2016, and who plan to attend Hua Xia credit class. No exceptions!
 
3) iGenius summer camp open house this Saturday, 4/18! Computer and more! It is owned and taught by Dr. Sun and his team, the very popular 3D Game Development / computer programming class at Hua Xia.  Find details in the flyer Open House.
 
4) The  American Chinese Youth Art Festival - Painting/Drawing Contest application Deadline 4/20See flyer for details. 
 
5) 2015 Chinese Culture Night at Petco Park! Next Saturday, 4/25.  Padre vs. LA Dodgers!  Get your ticket before too late! See attachment for details. 
 
6) A big " Thank You!" to those of you who participated in 2015 HOC Essay Contest!  We had a great turn out! 
 
7) Are you interested in having your children begin learning Chinese in traditional way, by reading/reciting classical Chinese books 四书五经? It is arguably the best way to teach Chinese culture and memorize Chinese characters. More importantly it says, the process trains your children to love reading and learning!  We plan to open a class in 2015-2016 year. Come and join us for a presentation next Sunday, 4/26, at PTA room. Details will follow.
 
8) Parents, your talent should be put in good use!  We are in need of teacher / coach for:  soccer, volley ball, violin, Chinese calligraphy, brush painting, etc.. Any subject that you think we should have! Contact us now! 
 
9) Mark your calendar! Hua Xia 2015 Promotion / Graduation Ceremony on 5/17, 2:00-5:00 pm, followed by beautiful Dance Recital of Liu Laoshi class. All invited!

1) Credit class Parent Service Deposit refund starts this Sunday 4/26 by the office, at 10:00 am - 12 noon,  and1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. It will continue in the next 2 weeks at the same time and location. DO NOT MISS IT, please!

Weekly Reminder 2015-05-10

Dear  Hua Xia Families,
 
This week is the final week of 2014-2015 school year! We are successfully closing another year! Many thanks to all of you and your great effort to provide our students a safe and pleasant place to learn Chinese language and culture. Your support is vital to Hua Xia. 
 
Next Sunday, May 17, is the last event of this school year, Graduation / Promotion Ceremony! I hope you can all be there to share the happy moment, and cheer for your students, classmates, brothers, sisters and friends. Our students have been working very hard to make the achievement. 
 
Here is one more weekly reminder before summer vacation:  
 
1) ALERT again!!  This was in my last weekly reminder. I assumed that all students / parents were aware of the incident, and I expected every student behave him/herself. Unfortunately, similar things happened again last Sunday, May 3, and the offenders - our students, were caught by the officials of Miramar College. While we are waiting for the decision of the college, I want to get everybody's attention to watch out for these destructive actions. 
 
I suggest that parents please go over the Student Guide with your children, and make sure they fully understand the consequences of this type of behaviors.  I'm calling on all the teachers to please address this issue to your class immediately, and the parents-on-duty truly work for your time. 
 
We all have to keep in mind, that we are guests to this college, we must respect the properties on campus, and we do not want to wear off their hospitality. 
 
2) Credit class Parent Service Deposit refund goes for one last timethis Sunday 5/10 by the office, at 10:00 am - 12 noonand 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.  DO NOT MISS IT!  The unclaimed funds will not be accredited to your next school year. It will be donated to the school activities.
 
3) Student store comes this Sunday, 5/10! Please remember to bring your hard-earned tickets! The tickets expire after 5/10.

Weekly Reminder 2015-05-03

Dear  Hua Xia Families,
 
This is week 29th. One more to go!
 
1) ALERT!!  Last Sunday, the new Bio Pond by S5 building was vandalized. The orange construction sand bag was thrown     into the pond and the plants were removed (see photo attached). This pond is not a decorative feature but an outdoor laboratory space for the Science Department of Miramar College. Under no circumstances should our students be playing in, on or nearby this  Bio Pond laboratory. Anyone who is involved in this undesired action would be hold responsible for the damage and the consequent disciplines. Anyone who sees such an action should report it to the parent-on-duty or teachers immediately. 
 
2) Credit Program placement test for 2015-2016 incoming students on this Sunday, May 3, 12 noon - 1 pm, 
    I-101A  (for students not currently enrolled in Hua Xia).
 
     Please:         - arrive at 11:30 am. 
                         - bring your payment receipt for registration of 2015-2016. 
                         - have your parent's phone number and email address handy . 
                         - know your school name / district in 2015-2016 year .
                         - know your grade level at Your school in 2015-2016.

Dear  Hua Xia Families,
 
2014-2015 school year is finally behind us. Great many thanks to all of our teachers, staffs, parents, and friends, for your deep care and strong support to the School, and for your effort to maintain a nourishing learning environment for our students. Together we shared many exciting moments, experienced some difficulties, and eventually made huge progress. It is a great honor for me to serve as your Principal.
