Q:  What programs are offered in 2024-25 school year? What are the class schedule options?

问:华夏2024-25学年有些什么课程,上课时间有什么选择?

 

A:  In school year 2024-25, SHXCS offers Chinese Programs, Math Program, and Enrichment Program. Chinese Programs include Kindergarten Program (NEW in 2024-25), Regular Program, Regular Bilingual Program, Credit Program, Credit Bilingual Program, and AP Chinese Program. Math Program covers 3rd grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade. Enrichment Program comprises various Chinese culture related subjects, such as HuaXia Little Theatre, Chinese Folk Dance, Kung Fu, Vocal and other non-Chinese subjects, such as Python, Debate, Drawing, and Creative Crafts, etc.

The class schedule includes Sunday AM and PM onsite sessions at Miramar College campus. Credit program also offers evening sessions on Tuesdays. To increase Bilingual students’ language environment exposure opportunity, the Bilingual Programs includes additional online classes and homework sessions during the week. The class minimum enrollment is 10.

Math Program offers 75-min class on Sundays from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm on Miramar College campus.

Q:  What is the difference between Regular/Credit program and Regular Bilingual/Credit Bilingual program?

问:普通/学分班和普通双语/学分双语班有什么不同?

 

A: Bilingual programs are provided to the students that have limited/less daily/family Chinese language environment support. Regular/Credit programs are offered to students who are comfortable with Chinese-only teacher-student interaction.

答:双语班是给每天没有中文语言环境的家庭/学生。普通/学分班是给上课能够和老师全程中文互动的学生。

 

Q: Is there any age requirement for each Program?

问:各个课程有年龄限制吗?

 

A: The minimum age is 4½years + by September of the school year for Kindergarten Program, and 5 ½ years + by September of the school year for Regular and Regular Bilingual Programs.

答:学前班必须九月份前满4岁半。普通/普通双语班一年级必须九月份前满5岁半。

 

Students of 6th grade or higher at their daily school, with some fundamental knowledge of Chinese may register for credit program Level I.

全日制学校六年级并有一定中文语言基础的学生可以加入学分/学分双语班。

 

Math program accepts the same grade students as their daily school grade.

数学班各年级招收和全日制同年级学生。

 

Q:  When will the school year start?

问:学校什么时候开学?

 

A:  SDHXCS school year starts late August, 8/18/2024 for school year 2024-25. The teachers’ welcome email will send out a week before the school starts, 8/12/2024 for school year 2024-25. The school first weekly news for the school year will send out on the Wednesday before the first day of school, 8/14/2024 for school year 2024-25. Here is the link to current school year calendar.

Q:  Can I register in person? When can I register?

问:我可以现场报名吗?我什么时候可以报名?

 

A:  No, you can’t register in person. All the registration has to be completed online. The online registration for school year 2024-2025 starts on 04/15/2024 for current students. New students’ registration starts on 5/20/2024.

答:华夏所有报名都在网上完成,不可以现场报名。2024-25学年在校生报名4/14/2024开通,新生报名5/20/2024开通。

 

Q:  What does the total registration payment include?

问:报名总收费包括哪些费用?

 

A:  The registration payment is for the whole school year, including program tuition, PTA ($10), refundable school service deposit ($75), and registration fee ($50). Tuition amount varies depending on the program.

答:华夏报名每年一次收费。收费包括学费,PTA,服务押金费和报名费。

 

Current school year service deposit will be refunded after the parent performs school service assigned by school office. The refund can be returned in cash or with a gift card.

当年的服务押金在家长完成学校办公室安排的义工服务之后将会以现金或购物卡的形式返还家长。

 

Registration fee is non-refundable. Registration fee is waived for current students only if the registration is completed before 05/19/2024. After 07/21/2024, an additional $50 fee applies to all students.  

     报名费是不退的。5/19/2024前完成报名的在校生,报名费可以免付。7/21/2024以后的报名都要额外收晚报名费。

 

Q: Is there a sibling discount? Is there a registration payment proration if I register after the school start.

问:有家庭折扣吗?我开学以后才报名,收费可以打折吗?

 

A:  No, we don’t offer sibling discount. No, there is no proration applied to the registration payment unless you register only the 2nd half of school year. In that case, only tuition is prorated, no proration applies to PTA, service deposit, or registration fee.

答:没有家庭折扣。开学以后报名,收费没有打折。只有报名下学期报名时,才可以对学费打半折,其他收费没有折扣。

 

Q:  Are the textbooks included in the tuition?

问:学费包括书本费吗?

A: No. The textbooks are not included in the tuition.

答:学费没有包括学费。

Regular/Regular Bilingual Program textbooks can be purchased from school office during Summer. Please join school WeChat Group or WhatsApp group to get updated office summer hours for textbook purchase. Otherwise, the teacher/room parent will coordinate textbook purchase on the first day of school.

普通班/普通双语班课本可以在暑假的时候通过学校办公室购买。暑假办公室的开放时间将会在微信群和WhatsApp群公布。家长也可以开学第一天在学校和家长代表/老师买书。

The school doesn’t coordinate textbook purchase for Credit Program. Credit/Credit Bilingual Program students need to purchase the required textbooks through 3rd party vendor before school starts. Please refer to Credit Program registration policy for textbook information for each level.

学分班/学分双语班学生需要在开学前自行购买准备所需课本。请在以上链接查看所需的课本信息。

AP Chinese uses eChinese online textbook. The school will coordinate online account purchase on the first day of school.

AP班使用易中文网上课本。开学第一天和学校联系账号购买。

 

Q:  I forgot my username and the password. How can I register?

问:我忘记我的账号和密码了,怎么办?

 

A:  You can ask your current teacher to obtain the username/student ID. You can reset your password by clicking Forgot Your Password.  

答:在校生请联系老师询问账号。忘记密码的话,请自行重设密码。

 

New student needs to create a username and password for registration.

新生需要在学校主页先注册账号,学校在5/20/2024以后开始批准新生账号。新生可以用新生账号登录并报名。

Q:  Where do I register after I log in my moodle account?

问:我登录moodle以后找不到哪里报名怎么办?

 

A:  After you log in to your moodle account, click Site Home (a house icon on the left), scroll down until you see 2024-25 programs, choose the program you plan to register, make online payment to complete the registration.

答:当你登录moodle以后,点击页面左上方Site Home(一个房子图样的图标)后,页面往下拉一直看到2024-25学年的课程以后,点击你需要报名的课程,然后付款完成。

 

Q:  How do I know that I successfully registered?

问:我怎么知道我是否报名成功?

 

A:  If the registration/payment is successfully accepted, an auto-receipt email will be sent to your registered email account. Please keep a copy of the receipt, it also contains the student ID and school tax ID number (FEIN: 33-0745701).

答:如果你的报名成功的话,你会收到一封来自auto-receipt的邮件,里面有你的学生账号以及学校的税号。请保留并做收据用。

 

Q:  When I register, I don’t have the options to choose grade level or class time. How can I choose the grade level or session (AM or PM)?

问:我报名时没有看见年级和上课时间的选择。我该怎么办?

 

A:  For current students, there’s no need to choose the grade level or session. Once the registration is successfully completed, the student will be rolled up to the next level (1st grade to 2nd grade, 2nd grade to 3rd grade, and so on), and the session will be the same as the previous year. For example, current 1st grade AM session students will be rolled up to 2nd grade AM session, unless otherwise being notified.

答:在校生报名不需要选择年级和上课时间。一旦报名成功,我们会把学生升到高一年级并保证和前一学年相同的上课时间。比如说,今年一年级上午班的学生报名以后会升级到二年级上午班。

For new students to the Regular and Bilingual program, please choose the appropriate grade level according to the student’s Chinese knowledge and his daily school grade. We can provide assessment and suggest right level as well. In addition, it is convenient to adjust the grade level accordingly after taking the lessons.

报名普通班/普通双语班的新生,请先选择和学生全日制同年级的班级。或者联系学校办公室先评估再填报年级。

 

For new students to the Credit program, the general rule is that 6th graders should be enrolled to Credit I, 7th graders to Credit II, 8th graders to Credit III, and 9th graders to Credit IV. 学分班/学分双语班的新生,一般来说全日制6年级上华夏学分一,7年级上华夏学分二,8年级上华夏学分三,9年级上华夏学分四。开学前会有6年级跳级上学分二的考试,有需求的学生,请尽快联系学校办公室或以上链接报名跳级考试。

 

SDHXCS AP Chinese Program registration is by invitation only. The school arranges AP placement test in February and in summer. Only students passed the test are invited to attend AP Chinese Program. Please reach out to school admin for further guidance.AP placement test registration link is here.

华夏每年二月份和暑假各安排一次AP中文入学考试,只有通过考试的学生才被邀请报名华夏AP中文班。有需求的学生,请尽快联系学校办公室或以上链接报名AP入学考试。

 

Q:  Can I pick the teacher for my child next year school?

问:我可以给我孩子明年选老师吗?

A: No. We can’t accommodate the request.

答:不可以,学校不允许选老师。

Q:  When can I find out my child’s next year teacher?

问:我什么时候可以知道明年我孩子在哪位老师班上?

A: Your teacher will send you a welcome email one week before the school starts. 2024-25 school years starts on 8/18/2024 Sunday. You should receive your teacher’s welcome email in the week of 8/12/2024.

答:老师会在开学前一周(8/12/2024那周)发开学欢迎邮件给家长,请关注邮箱或者spam。

Q:  When can I start to register enrichment class?

问:我什么时候可以报名才艺班?

A: The enrichment class online registration will open early August.

答:才艺班八月初开通报名。

Q:  What is the withdrawal policy?

问:学校退学退款的规定是什么?

A: The last day to submit withdrawal request for a refund is 9/22/2024. $150 processing fee plus a weekly fee will be deducted regardless the actual attendance of the student. Please refer to each program’s registration policy for more details. The refund requests will be processed by 10/1/2024 and the refund will be returned to your credit card before 10/15/2024.

答:退学退费申请截止日期是9/22/2024. 退费金额要扣除$150处理费和每周课时费。请看各课程的报名通知已了解具体的退学申请和课时费金额。退学申请统一10/1/2024前处理,返还费用会在10/15/2024以前退还至原信用卡。
